Middle School (5th-8th)

Middle School Academic Priorities
Middle School academic courses at Academy31 are strategically designed to:
- Introduce our students to a cohesive, reliable framework for thinking critically and biblically about all of life and the world around them
- Inspire, preserve, and build upon our students’ love of learning by engaging their interests and learning styles and incorporating their creativity
- Instill a sense of personal responsibility for each student’s academic success and teach the necessary executive functioning and time management skills
- Maximize teacher support within the instructional day to closely monitor our students’ progress, effectively partner with their parents, decrease stress, and minimize homework
- Lay a solid foundation of both skill and confidence in reading, writing, and math that will support our students’ future growth in every field of study in high school and beyond
Middle School Course Levels
Standard- Most courses offered from grades 5-8 will focus on core competencies needed for all students to continue progressing toward their academic potential. Our small class sizes and curriculum designed according to our Targeted Learning Model enable our teachers to often provide differentiated instruction to students within the same classroom according to their varying learning styles and levels of proficiency.
Advanced- Beginning in 7th grade, some students will be placed on an Advanced Math track (progressing to Pre-Algebra instead of Fundamentals of Math) and/or an Honors English track (with more complex and additional assignments requiring higher-level thinking) based on their demonstrated academic performance and standardized testing.
